With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Aliyah Marie Reynolds, age 17, of Newton, who passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Aliyah’s life at a service to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Crain Funeral Home in Newton, officiated by Kenneth Belcher. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Aliyah Marie Reynolds Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of a Bright Young Life Lost – Effingham, ILAliyah was born on August 28, 2008, in Robinson, Illinois, to Justin J. Reynolds and Angela Marie Myers. She was completing her senior year through homeschooling and had been preparing to pursue her C.N.A. license, with aspirations of becoming a nurse. Alongside her studies, she worked at Dunkin’ in Effingham.

Aliyah found great joy in spending time with family and friends. She loved camping, cookouts, and making lasting memories on family trips. With a large and close-knit family, she especially cherished caring for younger children. She recently purchased her first car, a milestone she was incredibly proud of, and enjoyed expressing her creativity through makeup, hairstyling, and cooking.

Known for her playful spirit, Aliyah loved practical jokes and brought laughter to those around her. Her sense of humor and ability to find joy in everyday moments made her truly special. Though small in stature, she had a heart full of love.

Aliyah is deeply loved and will be forever remembered by her parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Larry Wilson; great-grandmother, Leda Short; and uncle, Joshua Thoele.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
