It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Officer Heather Avery, a dedicated public servant whose life was defined by leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others.
Heather Avery served with distinction for over 15 years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. As a Training Director, she played a transformative role within her department, mentoring and guiding countless individuals while fostering a culture rooted in professionalism, growth, and excellence. Her influence helped shape not only careers but the values of those who had the privilege of learning from her.
More than her accomplishments, Heather was known for her warmth, kindness, and genuine care for people. She was a mentor, a trusted friend, and a steady source of encouragement to many. Her presence brought strength and positivity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Her passing is a tremendous loss to her department, her community, and all who knew her. Yet, her legacy lives on through the lives she impacted, the standards she set, and the inspiration she leaves behind.
A memorial service to celebrate Heather Avery’s life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Community Center. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather, honor her memory, and reflect on the remarkable life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heather Avery Memorial Fund, supporting community safety initiatives—an enduring tribute to her passion and service.
