It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Braxton Edward Canterberry, age 20, of Brilliant, Alabama, who died on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. His passing has left his family, friends, and the Winfield community grieving the loss of a young man whose life reflected faith, dedication, and genuine kindness.

Born on March 7, 2006, Braxton was the beloved son of Brandy Osmer Mitchell and the late Brent Canterberry. From an early age, he was surrounded by strong family values and meaningful relationships that helped shape the person he became. He was also a cherished grandson to Edward and Joan Canterberry and Michael Osmer, all of whom held a special place in his life.

As a committed member of the school’s football and baseball teams, he demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and determination. His passion for sports was matched by his deep commitment to his faith. He was an active member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church and participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, living out values of humility, compassion, and service in his everyday life.

In addition to his studies and activities, Braxton worked with TRU Homes in Lynn, where he earned the respect of colleagues for his strong work ethic and respectful demeanor. Whether at work, school, or church, he consistently carried himself with quiet strength and sincerity, leaving a positive impact on those around him.

Above all, Braxton treasured time with his family and friends. He built close and lasting relationships, including a special bond with Kason and John Pool, who were like brothers to him. His ability to connect with others, offer support, and share joy made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.

He is survived by his loving mother, Brandy Mitchell; his grandparents; his half-sister, Ariel Mitchell; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Brent Canterberry; his uncle, Trent Canterberry; and grandparents Kathy Osmer and Claude and Frances Johnson.

Funeral Arrangements & Celebration of Life
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Brilliant Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Manna From Heaven Ministry in honor of Braxton’s faith and the values he held dear.

Braxton Edward Canterberry will be remembered for his warm spirit, unwavering faith, and the love he shared so freely. Though his life was brief, his impact will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
