Authorities have confirmed that Zamil Limon, one of two missing doctoral students from the University of South Florida, has been found dead, as the investigation into the disappearance continues to unfold.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Limon’s remains were discovered Friday on a bridge connecting St. Petersburg and Tampa. The 27-year-old was originally from Bangladesh and had been pursuing a doctoral degree in geography, environmental science, and policy.

Both were last seen on April 16 near the university campus—Limon at his off-campus residence and Bristy at the Natural and Environmental Sciences Building.

The case escalated after authorities identified new information, leading investigators to classify both students as endangered prior to the discovery.

Law enforcement officials have taken 26-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh, identified as Limon’s roommate, into custody. He is facing multiple charges, including domestic violence (simple battery and false imprisonment), tampering with evidence, failure to report a death, and unlawfully moving a dead body. Deputies were initially called to his residence in connection with a reported domestic violence incident.

At this time, there has been no confirmation regarding the whereabouts or condition of Nahida Bristy, and the search for her remains ongoing.

The tragic development has sent shockwaves through the university community and beyond, with friends, classmates, and family members both in the United States and Bangladesh seeking answers.
